Ruth Uglow

Uglow's work explores the mechanics of nature through sciences intervention of medicine, agriculture and food production. Her recent commission with the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead, celebrated the research that takes place at the hospital; this led her to investigate infectious diseases, bacteria, viruses, and stem cell research. The resultant series of drawings are exhibited on the ward of the Institute of immunity and transplantation. Uglow uses drawing and etching techniques to continue developing her exploration and understanding of biomedicine and its implications within contemporary and future society.
